The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Chinese government have signed an official protocol on exporting fresh mangoes to China at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The market for Cambodian mango products will gradually be exported to China. Besides, the fresh mango production sector will gradually improve and value the economy and the market, especially to absorb more local labor.
The Chinese government has decided to increase rice imports from Cambodia to 400,000 tonnes a year, and nearly two years ago, China allowed Cambodia to export 8 million tonnes of yellow banana directly to the Chinese market. In a year, the two sides have been discussing the procedures and requirements and techniques to come up with a proposal for export of peanut, grapefruit, grapefruit and earwash and hope that the work can begin. The two sides reached an agreement to sign the Protocol on “Sanitary Demand for the Export of Fresh Mango from Cambodia to the Republic of China”. As of 5 June 2020, the Directorate of Agriculture has received applications for the registration of mango orchards and packaging locations for exporting fresh mango to China, 20 company owners with 21,286 hectares of land. After the protocol goes into effect, the General Department of Agriculture will inspect and evaluate mango orchards and packaging sites and send it to the Chinese side for evaluation before it can be exported.
